He should have been the third hobbit, but instead he was damned to a life of creeping in the shadows, lusting after something he shouldn't have. Gollum is surely one of the most under-explored characters of Middle-earth, and The Lord of the Rings: Gollum seeks to give him his moment in the sun.

Along with, of course, moments in some deep dark caves, on cliff faces and lurking about round rivers. Gollum (and to some degree his nicer alter ego, Sméagol) are cunning, agile and sneaky, and it's these qualities that LOTR Gollum leans into. It's very much a stealth game, with combat thoroughly discouraged.

Gollum must sneak through the shadows, performing stealth takedowns at opportune moments and fleeing if even the measliest orc sets eyes on him. There's a hefty dose of platforming, too, with lots of climbable surfaces for Gollum to scamper over, Uncharted-style. At times the Gollum/Sméagol dynamic comes into play, and you'll need to make decisions that align with one personality or the other.

It's not always as simple as choosing to be good or evil - sometimes the Sméagol choice will just flat-out get you killed. Lord of the Rings: Gollum is an adventure into some of the greyer areas of Middle-earth that fans won't want to miss.
