It's been decades coming, but Harry Potter fans finally have a game worthy of the richness and scale of the Wizarding World. Hogwarts Legacy is a big, open world action RPG with more than 30 hours of content to keep you immersed in Hogwarts and its surrounding world. You play as a fifth year student (carefully sculpted by you in the character creator) transferring to 19th century Hogwarts for unclear reasons, and upon arriving you're quickly thrown into an epic battle against an evil goblin that has the fate of the wizarding world hanging in the balance. Legacy takes you deep into that world, with a vibrantly realised school and cast. Locations you might be familiar with include Hogsmeade, the Forbidden Forest and, of course, iconic locations from Hogwarts itself. You'll show up for the adventure, but there's a good chance you'll spend a lot of time just attending classes, diving into the relationship quests and soaking up this place we used to only dream about visiting. Over the course of the game you'll learn to cast a ton of magical spells, brew up potions and get to grips with combat magic. Speaking of which, combat could have devolved into slinging bursts of light around like you're in any number of basic shooters, but Avalanche has put a lot of thought into bringing layers of depth into the system. Dodging and countering combine with inventive combos to keep things interesting as you amass abilities. You might, for example, yank an enemy towards you, light them on fire then blow them away, and it only gets more interesting as you advance up the skill trees. There's a lot of excitement around Hogwarts Legacy, and Wizarding World fans are in for a treat.
